Tribal rugs are made by tribesman settled in various nomadic regions of Afghanistan, Iran and parts of Caucasus. These rugs are relatively courser in terms of density of knots as compare to the pieces from the city workshops. Nevertheless they have their own attraction. Tribal rugs reflect cultural heritage, and they are pleasing in their direct, un-sophisticated simplicity of line and the clarity of feeling. Furthermore, these tribal representations are made from natural fibers and extracted dyes. Unlike city workshop rugs designs are not pre determined and formulize in the form of a grid like graph but are executed directly through the weaver’s imagination and aesthetics vision.
